This series is a celebration of Malaysian culture, which can be seen through intricate patterns, vivid colours, and ornate architectural details. I’ve merged elements of nature like flora and fauna, with meticulous craftsmanship, that reflects Malaysia's deep connection to nature and honours artistic heritage. Every detail is designed to contribute to a harmonious and culturally rich narrative, blending various artistic traditions into a cohesive and distinctive piece.

Lush commissioned me to design a Diwali Knot Wrap, which was also adopted across their wrapping paper, marketing and promotional materials. Diwali derives its name from the row of clay lamps that adorn Indian households, symbolising the inner light guarding against spiritual darkness. I wanted to depict a scene of such illuminated homes, complemented by vivid illustrations that reflects the festival's significance. These visuals feature elements like rangoli, fireworks, and culturally iconic symbols such as the lotus flower.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of David Bowie’s alter-ego ‘Ziggy Stardust’, Rolling Stone UK and Adobe have asked me to reimagine the artist’s iconic album cover: ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’, using Adobe’s new David Bowie inspired toolkit.
For my reimagined David Bowie 1972 album, I wanted to create an otherworldly futuristic setting framing the story behind the album, whilst linking recognisable elements of Ziggy Stardust throughout. The iconic imagery acts as the focal element, descending and ascending simultaneously, in line with his centrality in a narrative that presents a complete “birth-to-death chronology” of Ziggy.

I was asked to create a series of illustrations as an artistic interpretation of Porsche’s campaign titled ‘No Small Dreams’, founded on inspiring Porsche’s audiences to pursue their own dreams. The illustrations were featured in Marvin magazine Issue 4 as the back cover and as an exclusive double-sided poster. The role allowed for the execution to be driven by art, and not solely advertising; creating something that someone might have as a keepsake. The illustrations were seen as murals around Brooklyn and San Francisco. And currently installed in the Christophorus Restaurant located at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

I was commissioned by Starbucks to create 3 murals as part of the ‘Starbucks Art Program’. These murals are installed in stores across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The theme being ‘Bean To Cup’ – with the individual murals representing each word in the title respectively. The work is therefore an homage to coffee culture and the unique journey from cultivation to consumption.

I was commissioned to design a beer can label inspired by the theme ‘The Four Sights’, deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy. The artwork represents a serene inner universe that is mindful, meditative and enigmatic. Birds serve as the focal point, guiding the viewer’s gaze, while a smaller impression of them flying into the distance reinforces a sense of contemplative solitude within nature. They also exemplify a sense of calmness, awakening and freedom.

This is an ongoing series called ‘Omocha’, which is the Japanese word for toy. It's inspired by traditional Japanese folk toys which are typically crafted to symbolise wishes for good fortune and the healthy upbringing of children who own them. The artwork features an array of playful and whimsical characters, each reflecting the simplicity and charm of these handmade toys. Through these illustrations, I wanted to share the happiness these toys inspire, offering a fresh and contemporary interpretation by blending elements of folk art and fantasy. The overall composition evokes a sense of joyful absurdity, as if these characters are part of a fantastical parade or a celebration of the imagination.

I was commissioned to illustrate two posters for Young the Giant's 2023 U.S. tour. I wanted the illustration to have an underlying influence of Indian culture throughout, echoing many of the themes shown in their latest album, American Bollywood. I also drew inspiration from the concert venue itself, letting its atmosphere subtly shape the artwork. The work simply aims to celebrate the traditional with the modern and how it can be incorporated to create something quite special.

‘Real Estate, Real Problems’ is my take on the overly priced and generally poor-quality properties available to renters in today’s global cities. When greed is central to any urban creation, it will usually be at the expense of quality, beauty, sensitivity to local culture and built environment, as well as really any sense of good taste. The imagery I’ve applied is my somewhat conceptual take on truly horrible properties that have actually been marketed online; ugly, impractical and unsafe, defined by an obscure use of space and still managing to consistently remain overpriced. This coupled with an unsympathetic use of colour, sets the tone of these audacious property listings that much of my generation residing in large cities on a budget have come across. Without any pushback we won’t be able to buck the trend of greed in our urban environments and bring about both aesthetically tasteful cities and dignified housing across the wealth divide.
Real Estate, Real Problems is part of Bad Taste: An Illustration Exhibition organised and curated by the amazing and talented members of Meet The Kawan.

Garden of Delight is a little love letter to nature, imagination, and all things a bit weird and wonderful. Each patch in this series is like a tiny scene from an alternate garden, where beetles wear patterns, flowers have personalities, and the air is full of playful energy. I wanted to make something fun, joyful, and a bit surreal.
